Martins Balodis of Johnson Court, Clinton Park, admitted driving with excess alcohol and without a full driving licence, when he appeared at Skegness Magistrates’ Court on March 22.

The court was told that Balodis was stopped by police in Stenner Road, Coningsby, after they saw him driving at only 30mph in a 60mph limit area and swerving across the road at 1am on March 5.

He gave a positive breath test reading of 51 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

It was also said that he only had a provisional driving licence and was unaccompanied.

Mitigating, Beris Brickels said Balodis’ friend normally went with him but on this occasion he had been at a party at a friend’s house and been asked to go out to buy more drinks and he was on his way back when he was stopped.

Balodis was banned from driving for 14 months and ordered to pay a fine, costs and charges totalling £415.
