TEN YEARS AGO: First look at new £1.5m sports facility in Skegness
Skegness’ new £1.5 million Wainfleet Road Sports Pavilion was unveiled to the press 10 years ago this week, ahead of a planned spring opening.
Skegness Rugby Club’s 20-year-old clubhouse had been completely renovated as part of the project and dovetailed into an entirely new-build section.
Facilities included: a social area with a bar, capable of taking up to 100 people, a newly fitted kitchen with equipment costing £8,000, a lounge/members’ bar which could double as a meeting area, a small kitchen with a window-hatch servery to cater for spectators, and eight players’ changing rooms with disabled facilities.
