Teenage girl dies after being hit by train on Sleaford to Skegness line

A teenage girl has died after being hit by a train on the line between Sleaford and Skegness yesterday (February 25) evening, police have said.

The 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene following the incident at Heckington.

Her death is not being treated as suspicious, police have said.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “We were called to the line at Heckington, shortly after 8pm on Wednesday, February 25, following reports of a person being hit by a train.

“Colleagues from Lincolnshire Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service also attended, and a 17-year-old local girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The girl’s death is not being treated as suspicious, and her family has been informed.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

East Midlands Trains tweeted out yesterday that services between Sleaford and Skegness had been disrupted that evening due to a person being ‘hit by a train’ at Heckington.
