Tributes paid to Tattershall teenager Sam Powell killed in Metheringham collision

The 19-year-old man killed in a collision in the Metheringham area yesterday, Tuesday, has been named locally as Sam Powell of Tattershall.

Shaunna Louise wrote on Facebook: “RIP. Took too soon and so young.”

Lincolnshire Police said two vehicles were involved in the incident on the B1188 Sleaford Road shortly before 6pm.

The cars were a blue Volkswagen Polo, driven by the teenager, and a grey Volkswagen Golf, being driven by a 53 year male from the Walcott area.

Air ambulance attended and treated the teenager, however, he died at the scene.

A police spokesman said: “The name of the deceased will be updated when a formal identification has been made and family members have been informed.

The driver of the Golf was taken to Lincoln County Hospital but was not detained. He did not have any serious injuries.

The road was reopened at 10.30pm.
