VIDEO: Who were named Star Bakers at this year’s Great Gainsborough Bake Off

This year’s Great Gainsborough Bake Off saw budding bakers bring their creations to the Old Hall with the hope of being named Star Baker.

Entries ranged from the classic Victoria Sponge to more adventurous creations including Pink Lemonade Cupcakes.

Liam Carr, 11, took home the Kids Challenge trophy with a chocolate cake which was topped with some very impressive chocolate work, Jackie Summers won the Signature Bake Challenge with her carrot cake and vanilla and ginger cream cheese frosting and the Technical Challenge, which asked bakers for the best Victoria Sponge, was won by Kat Townsend.

This year’s entries were judged by Shan Jaehrig, from Sills and Betteridge and Gainsborough Town Partnership, Coun Lesley Rollings, also representing Gainsborough Academy, and Samantha Mellows, Gainsborough Town Manager.

Samantha said: “The Great Gainsborough Bake Off was a great success and the standard of entries was really high.”

“We thoroughly enjoyed judging the entries and thank everybody for taking part with a special well done to the winners.”

“We look forward to repeating the event in 2015.”
