Women brew up at Welbeck for Independence Day
The team of 15 brewsters from across the UK gathered Welbeck as part of Project Venus to concoct the exclusive 4.6 per cent Venus Red brew which will go on sale on 4th July.
Welbeck Brewery head brewer Claire Monk hosted the latest get-together and said Project Venus is a fantastic way to celebrate female success in the brewing industry.

“The great thing about Project Venus is that it’s not just men who make beer and there are women out there who are finding success in the real ale industry.”
She added: “American Red is a new style of beer emerging in the UK. It ranges from a pale mber colour to a deep rich red, and tends to be more balanced in flavour.”
Real ale fans will have to wait until 4th July to sample Venus Red when it will be officially launched at The Hand and Heart pub in Notingham.

Said Claire: “The beer festival went really well and we sold around 2,100 pints. There was live music throughout and a really great atmosphere.”
“We are also delighted to have won the Derbyshire CAMRA Mild in May award for our 3.8 per cent Elis beer.”
“We are really chuffed because Derbyshire CAMRA covers a really big area and we we up against some really big breweries.”
