Another draw for Horncastle Town as they prepare for Bank Holiday derby day

They followed up their opening day draw with Barton Town Reserves with a 1-1 draw at Lincoln Moorland Railway on Saturday where hotshot Aiden Willerton made a successful return from injury.

Joint boss Lewis Burchnall said: “I’ve got mixed feelings about Saturday really. On the one hand we played incredibly well, well enough to beat any team in our league.
“On the other hand we didn’t turn that dominance into goals and ultimately paid the price for it.
“Aiden put us ahead, we missed a hatful of chances, then in the dying minutes they got a penalty and scored it.
“I don’t think Moorlands could’ve argued if we’d beaten them by three or four, and the fact we’ve created so many chances over the last two games gives us belief that the goals will come.”
He added: “We’ve had two very different line-ups already due to player unavailability, so we’re looking forward to getting a more settled squad in the coming weeks.
“Aiden was our top scorer last season so it’s great to have him back from injury, and Reece Pemberton always worries defences with his pace and skill.
“Our next game is a local derby at home to Spilsby. We’ll be up for the battle with them, hopefully in front of a big crowd.”
