BOSTON SATURDAY LEAGUE: Leaders Swineshead forced to sweat over three points

In a topsy-turvy game, Kirton opened the scoring before Swineshead responded in positive fashion by storming into a 3-1 lead.

Kirton fought back and they clawed their way back into the game before a late controversial winner gave the home side maximum points.

As the ball was forced over the line, the Kirton players appealed that the ball had been kicked out of the goalkeeper’s hands.

Second-placed, Spilsby Town had a more comfortable victory when they defeated Billinghay Athletic 3-0 at home with the crucial goals coming from Jack Solomon, Jake Akers and Adam Dales.

Benington ran out 4-1 winners against Skegness Town Reserves, despite playing for more than an hour with just 10 men.

Gavin Bell was red-carded for violent conduct midway through the first half with his side already two goals ahead courtesy of strikes from Joe Wood and Matthew Hood.

Despite the dismissal, Tom Baxter added a third before half-time and then Ben Newton increased the advantage after the break before Skegness struck a late consolation.

Arnold Kuznecovas struck a fine hat-trick for Ruskington Rovers in their 7-0 home win against Pointon.

Rovers’ other matchwinners were Shaun Morris, Ashley Farmer, Liam Tait and Callum Johnson.

There was another hat-trick hero at Fishtoft, where Jamie Skinner’s treble helped his side overcome Wyberton Reserves following a comfortable 5-0 home win.

Wyberton could have easily taken a first half lead, however, when they were awarded a penalty for handball. Thankfully for Fishtoft their keeper Karl Beck guessed the right way and saved the spot kick.

This seemed to spark Fishtoft into life and they stunned their opponents with two quick-fire goals- the first from Jamie Skinner followed by a long distance strike from JordanLote saw Fishtoft take a 2-0 lead into half time.

The second half saw further Fishtoft pressure and debutant Ollie Pinner scored from the spot to make it 3-0 and Jamie Skinner added two more to complete his hat trick and make the final score 5-0.

In the Taylors Peugeot Division One, Swineshead Reserves’ leading scorer Richard Barker hit another hat-trick for his side as they comfortably saw off the challenge of Old Doningtonians.

Josh Smith struck the other two goals for Swineshead as they took maximum points following a 5-2 home win.

Heckington Millers kept the pressure on leaders Swineshead Reserves with a 3-1 away win at Pointon Reserves.

Heckington started well creating several good chances and they converted two to go in at the break 2-0 in front thanks to goals from Kane Brown and Dan Eastgate.

The second half was a much more even affair with Pointon reducing the arrears through Chris Barnes before the Millers made the game safe when they were awarded penalty and, although Dom Kew’s spot-kick was saved, he followed up to slot home the rebound.

Friskney got back to winning ways with a 6-2 away win at Freiston.

The home side were only trailing to a single Victor Sibert goal but the lively striker then went on to complete his hat-trick after the break.

Not to be outdone, fellow-striker, Greg Brown also netted a fine hat-trick as the visitor’s ran out comfortable winners.

Freiston replied through Chris Hilton and young teenager Jordan Smith, who was just four days past his 16th birthday when he scored his first goal for his new side on his debut.

Chris Bradford struck twice for Sleaford Colts in their 4-0 home win against Fosdyke.

Jason Partridge and Luke George completed the scoring for the Colts.

Fosdyke were left puzzled as to how they lost by such a big scoreline after settling down well on Carre’s astro turf pitch and performing admirably for long periods of the game.

The Colts were looking to avenge their 2-1 defeat at Fosdyke on the opening day of the season but during the first half Fosdyke adapted well on the quick surface and played some impressive football.

New signing Ben Lawton was controlling the middle of the park spraying passes everywhere and Martyn Patterson was outstanding in holding the ball up and some wonderful intricate play evolved around him with Joe Bradbury and Declan Wilson looking the most likely to score.

The home side were being closed down from every angle, with Michael Beauchamp holding the midfield together with his trademark tough tackling.

At half-time it looked like the visitors had laid a platform for gaining some reward from the match until a wonderful strike early in the second half from the home striker flew into The Fosdyke net.

This boost gave the home side some impetus and they started to gain more of a foothold in proceedings.

The score was kept to a solitary goal by an amazing Sam Leafe save who, at point blank range, tipped a goal bound header over the bar.

At the other end, Fosdyke were denied in similar fashion when Luke Smith’s goal bound header was cleared off the line before a bizarre second goal deflated the visitors when a hopeful cross to the far post appeared to be drifting out but, to Fosdyke’s horror, the ball somehow swerved into the net.

This completely changed the game.

After playing so well yet trailing 0-2, Fosdyke seemed to lose concentration and conceded two more to seal a heavy defeat that until the hour point looked way off the mark.

Tom Sewell also struck two goals for Coningsby in their 4-1 away win at Rippingale & Folkingham.

Sean Taylor and Carl Wilson hit the other goals for the visitors.

Two games in the Taylors Ford Division Two were postponed after the playing surfaces were considered too waterlogged.

Spalding Harriers’ game against FC Kirton and Billinghay Athletic Reserves’ contest against Leverton were postponed.

At Graves Park, there were some puzzling events which resulted in the abandonment of their home clash against Holbeach Bank.

With Kirton leading 3-0 at the break, the outcome looked ominous for the bottom side and things didn’t get any better when their goalkeeper suffered a nasty injury, which resulted in an ambulance being called.

After consulting with the Holbeach camp, a premature ending was considered and the Bank decided that they didn’t wish to carry on and the referee, therefore, abandoned the game.

The match official’s report to The Lincolnshire FA will be discussed before a decision will be made on whether Kirton will be allowed to claim the three points or whether the match will have to be replayed.

Sibsey had a couple of key players missing from their ranks when they entertained AFC Tetford and, despite scoring three times, they still ended up empty-handed.

Shane Brackenbury, who grabbed two goals, and Stacey Ruck were on target for the home side but Tetford took the three points with a fine performance to run out 5-3 winners.

Tetford’s win meant that they swapped places with their opponents in the top half of the table.

Swineshead A still remain hot on the heels of Leverton following a 3-1 away win at Coningsby, where Jamie Todd struck the home side’s only goal.

In the Taylors Vauxhall Division Three, Park United continued their impressive run with another victory when they entertained FC Hammers.

The Hammers, playing with the wind behind them during the first half, put Park under pressure early on but they were unable to take their chances when they came along.

Park eventually got there passing game going and eventually ran out comfortable 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Alex Limb, Leon Pycock and Ben Liu.

Railway Athletic remain at the top of the table following a 2-0 home win against Spalding Harriers Reserves thanks to goals from Billy Shinn and Liam Wilson.

Fishtof Reserves moved into second place following a 6-2 away win at Boston Athletic while Pointon A were held to a 3-3 draw by Eastern European FC.

Pointon’s recent signing, under 17 starlet Danny Miller, hit one of the goals while leading scorer Mark Smith was once again amongst the goals.

Eastern European will be satisfied with a point following their previous week’s disappointment and the fact that they were considering withdrawing from last Saturday’s fixture due to several of their players wishing to go home for the festive period.

Benington Reserves heaped more misery on bottom side FC Boston when they returned home with n 8-2 victory under their belts.

Steve Woodcock was again amongst the goals scoring twice for the visitors while Tim Bell and Ryan Lawson also bagged braces.

The other Benington goals came from Jamie Lawson and Dan Fox.
