Gainsborough Trinity extend winning run as boss Russ Wilcox urges 'one game at a time' caution
Gainsborough Trinity recorded a fifth straight win with victory over fellow promotion chasers Warrington Town on Saturday with boss Russ Wilcox happy but keen to stress the importance of taking things one game at a time.
The 2-1 success moved the Holy Blues five points clear of their opponents in the standings in fourth place but Wilcox said: “We will continue to look ahead to the next game, one-game-at-a-time.

“This strong group of players and backroom staff are all working hard.
“The team has quality, but the fundamental work rate and defensive resilience in the second half were key to keeping a second half clean sheet and seeing the game out."
Wilcox described the conditions as 'awful' and said: “Credit to the way both teams conducted themselves in a game that was never going to be a classic.
“Despite the tough conditions, we dug deep to secure our fifth consecutive win.
“Warrington are a good outfit, who had more possession and made it difficult to press due to their tactical shape and midfield rotation.
“Despite that, we had the better chances and found a way to win, which is what matters most.”
As Wilcox looked ahead to the weekend clash with Bamber Bridge, the second of two quickfire home games this week, he emphasised the importance of staying humble, saying: “We won't be getting too carried away.
“We know it is a real squad effort. Everyone is contributing and playing with smiles on their faces, but the lads know they have to go out there and win their individual battles.
“Paul McKenna has just gone in at Bamber Bridge. I played with him at Preston and he'll get them right up for the game here, so we'll need to be on our game.”
As the eight games in October draw to a close, Wilcox can look at his squad with a degree of satisfaction.
“We have a fully committed group, all competing for a spot in the starting line-up, but all backing each other 100 per cent,” he said.
“It's a really good position to be in as manager of this football club.”
