Tom Platt didn't have to think twice when offered the chance to stay at Boston United

After two influential seasons in the Pilgrims' midfield, the 27-year-old was happy to commit his immediate future to the club, with manager Craig Elliott praising the 'big part' he's played in the side.

"I didn't have to think about it. I've loved my time at Boston since I signed a couple of years ago," Platt said.

"I was looking forward to re-signing and, hopefully, I can have a more consistent year this time, and a successful one.

"It's been a frustrating year for everybody and it's still a few months until pre-season, but I'm ready to get going now."

Platt suffered two hamstring injuries last season, which he puts down to the stop-start nature of the campaign, having to return to match action with little or no training due to enforced Covid breaks.

But is now fully recovered and ready to go again.

"I think as much as anything it was the Covid breaks that took their toll, having to go straight back into games," he added.

"Hopefully, fingers crossed, I'm over them now. I feel good and hopefully we can have a good season without any interruptions."

Platt's former Harrogate Town and Alfreton Town teammate Luke Shiels has penned a new deal, and Plat is happy to once again link up with his pal and teammates Jordan Burrow and Scott Garner, who are also under contract.

"It always helps if there's a few lads you know on and off the pitch. They're good lads off the pitch," Platt said.

"We've got a good relationship playing wise. That makes a difference when you start up again with people you know."
