Lincolnshire League: Market Rasen Town outgunned at Horncastle

Market Rasen Town failed to close the gap to the teams above as their Lincolnshire Footbal League campaign faltered at Horncastle on Saturday.

The 3-1 defeat saw Town remain second-bottom, six points clear of Ruston Sports and a point behind CGB Humbertherm who have played fives games less.

Horncastle led 2-0 at the interval, Carl Smith’s cross-cum-shot putting the hosts in front early on and Michael Harness sweeping the ball home to double the advantage just before the break.

Richard Jackson”s fifth league goal of the season made the points safe before Kieran Togher grabbed a consolation for Rasen.

Rasen complete their league programme this evening when they host fourth-placed Hykeham Town at the Memorial Hall Ground (kick-off 6.30pm).
