Louth Town Martin furious after six goal Staveley drubbing embarrassment

Louth Town suffered a week to forget as they lost star striker Theo Kitt-Bushell to UCL Premier North neighbours Skegness Town and were then destroyed 6-0 away at Stavelely MW for a third successive Division One defeat on Saturday.

Boss Carl Martin pulled no punches as he said: “It was an embarrassing display from us and Staveley were much the better team on the day.

“We were woeful – I have to say we were probably disgraceful.

“We were 4-0 down in 28 minutes, conceding from three set pieces and a worldie, which left us shellshocked.

“It could have been even more at the end of the day.

“As a manager it is easy to point the finger at your players.

“But the buck stops with me.

"I pick the team and the formation and I take the training. So I 100 per cent take responsibility for the result and the performance.

“That is 12 goals we have now shipped in three games so we're looking a bit open at the minute.

"We need to make some tweaks on the training ground.”

Charlie Wood put Staveley in front from the spot on 14 minutes from the penalty spot before Dustyn Grierson Dan Grierson and Tom Wood made it 4-0 inside the first 28 minutes.

Then Mitch Langton and Dan Grierson piled on the agony after the break as the home side moved into sixth place.

Louth have made two additions with wing back Finley Hipkin joining the White Wolves on a dual registration from Harrowby and striker Krisztian Gagyi on a dual registration from Boston Town, making his debut on Saturday.

On Bushell's departure, Martin said: “Theo left on Thursday after Skegness came in for him and, to be fair, it is another step up for him and he goes with our best wishes.

“But it was a bitter blow for us as he was probably our star striker. I hope it all works out for him.

“We did bring two players in last week, though Hipkin was unavailable on Saturday.

“We do have a few injuries and suspensions plus people on holiday.

"But there was still enough out there on Saturday to get a positive result, so there are no excuses.

“We are looking to bring in another couple of players to strengthen next week.

“Until then it's all hands to the pumps and we need to work harder.”

On Saturday the White Wolves next head for fourth-placed Swallownest for a tough UCL Cup test as they look to get their season back on track.
