Players who are at an appropriate level to trial can do so by attending on Tuesday, February 16 or Thursday, April 7.

Applicants will be shortlisted and invited to attend pre-season training, with successful players being given the opportunity to study on a one or two-year BTEC education course at Boston United Sports College, along with full time professional football standard training.

Players reaching the required standard will also have the opportunity to represent Boston United’s youth team in the Football Conference Youth Alliance League and Cup Competitions, alongside the FA Youth Cup.

“We’re looking to recruit talented, locally based players in the under 16 and 17s age group who are studying in school year 11 and lower sixth, and who are interested in combining daily training with obtaining qualifications at the football club’s sports college,” said Martyn Bunce, the Pilgrims’ football development manager.

“This is a great opportunity for teenagers to study on a full time education course whilst receiving a daily football and sports programme.

“We offer unique one or two-year courses where we aim to create the best possible environment for players to excel in the classroom, as well as on the pitch.

“We aim to help players make strides towards joining Boston United’s first team and professional football, or to go on to do further studies at university.

“Our BTEC courses are fully recognised qualifications for UCAS applications.”

This is also a route for any young players who have been released by a professional club but still have an ambition to progress their football career, or who may be a youngster who just needs the right environment to develop their ability and education.
