He will join teammate Rob Hodson to race the team’s Supertwin bikes and, although it is uncertain when racing will recommence, he is welcomed into the team.

A team spokesman said: “In this unprecedented situation we understand there are more pressing matters.

“However, we wanted to share our good news and whilst we have to wait and see how the world recovers, we are still working behind the scenes to make sure Gary has one of our supertwins to race at the 2021 Isle of Man TT.

“Fingers crossed we will see Gary along side Rob Hodson out on them at some point soon.”

Johnson is keeping himself occupied during lockdown but is itching to return to two wheels.

He said: “I am excited to be joining the team as they are proven front runners and three-times TT winners.

“With Ivan Lintin being a good friend I hope I can do him justice in one of the strongest classes out there.

“Right now I am working on my own bikes while in lockdown, and am just looking forward when we can all get back to racing our bikes.”
