Aaron, from Tattershall, qualified in eighth place for the start of race one at his home circuit and said: “Qualifying was tough but I managed to find some space during the session and beat my personal best lap time from the race last year, which is positive progress.”

The weather was kind to the riders and they were blessed with dry conditions throughout the weekend.

Starting race one from an eighth row grid position in the mixed field of riders, Aaron equalled his qualifying position by finishing the race in sixth place in his class – an overall position of 15th.

Race two saw Aaron embroiled in an incredible battle for position amongst a large group of riders. He was pulled along by the faster of the group and managed to shave a further second from his best time to complete the 12-lap affair in sixth place once again.

In the final race of the weekend, Aaron began to struggle with his knees and, after a few near-crash moments in the previous race, thought it wise to go for a safe finish and bring the bike home safely after a successful points gathering weekend. Nonetheless, he completed his final race in a creditable seventh place to pick up nine championship points, bringing his total haul from the weekend to 29 and moving him up a place to fourth in the overall standings.

Aaron said: “Overall last weekend at Cadwell was very tough as there was so much competition but a good weekend with no DNFs and with the points collected. This has moved me up to fourth in the championship which I am pleased about.

“Luckily no dramas with contact lenses this weekend as I ended up taking them out completely and racing without, which brings a new meaning to speed blur.

“Thank you to all my sponsors and everyone who helped me this weekend: Stralia Race Tech, A & J Racing, Fuchs Silkolene, Pete and Ally Dalton, Andy Waters, Chores Hygiene Management, Oakwell Management Services, dad, mum, Max, Lucy, Tom Nixon, John Stones, Craig Harriman and Helen Pask.”

The next round is at Oulton park on July 1/2 when Aaron will be aiming his sights on retaining his championship position and Oulton, being one of his favourite circuits, he is very much looking forward to it.
