Cross country challenge for Gold Tops

Boston and District  Athletic Club competed at the Lincolnshire Runner Cross Country League round at Belton House on Sunday.

In the combined junior, senior, veteran men’s r ace over 9.7k, Ollie Tiainin was the first Gold Top to enter the finish funnell in 27th.

Ollie Lammiman was 36th and James Roark 42nd.

In the combined junior, senior, veteran women’s 6.6k race, Emma Penson was 20th.

In the under 15 boys’ and girls’ event over 4.6k, Alex Frick was ninth while in the under 13s, Jessica Frick completed her 3.3k challenge in ninth position.

The 1.4k under 11 boys’ and girls’ competition, Lea Frick finished 16th and Damian McNally claimed 22nd place.

Eighteen junior runners contested events at the second of this season’s Boston & District AC Junior Cross Country series on Saturday.

In the year one and two race over 600m, Henry Westwell (Bicker Prep) was first in 3 mins 16.2 secs, ahead of runner-up Henry English (Bicker Prep, 3.17.2) and third-place Emily Fisher (3.54.8.).

The 1,500m years three and four race was won by Lumen Myers (7.25.6), ahead of Daniel Hutton (Sleaford Striders) and Erin Norton (7.43.0).

At year five and six level, Alaistair Hutton (Sleaford Striders) romped to victory in 8 mins 53.9 secs over 2,000m. Pru Gilbert (Bicker Prep, 12.39.0) was second.

The combined years seven, eight and nine race was over 3,000m.

First home was Oliver Gilbert (Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, 15.30.0) with under 15 Megan Reid second (18.17.3) and Evie Milner (20.46.1) third.

On Saturday the third of this season’s Junior Sportshall Athletics events will be held at The B-Hive with events for under sevens to under 15s.

Registration is at 9.30am.
