Pensioners fly the flag for the Beckingham club with victory

The pensioners teams flew the flag for Beckingham Bowls Club last week.

The Northern Section players came away from Epworth in their Isle of Axholme Pensioners’ match with the maximum six league points, and have taken 24 out of a possible 30 points in their last five matches.

The Central Section team put in a good performance at home to Marshall B, winning one rink and just losing on the other to win the fixture 4-2.

In the Gainsborough Rotary Millennium Trophy semi-final at Wheatley, Beckingham’s Gainsborough Standard Bowls League team lost a hard fought match by 12 shots to Marshall A.

Two days later, Beckingham won one rink and drew another, but lost heavily in the other two to lose their home league fixture 7-3 to Marton and GB, despite the welcome return of their old stalwart Geoff Proudley.

The Club’s I. of A. Evening League team faced Marshalls at Beckingham on the and could only manage to draw one of the three rinks to lose the fixture 9-1 and drop from the top spot.
