Table-topping Seaview successfully tame Lion

Division One

Leaders Seaview Next Tuesday beat Red Lion 8-4.

The away side led 4-2 after the singles, the Lion’s two points coming from Dave Middleton (5x100, 120, 121, and a 20 dart leg) and Scott Smith (2x100, 125, 137, 2x140, and a cracking 15 darter).

But it was to be the Seaview’s night as Tony Parkin (4x100, 2x140 and 180) and Ian Fawcett (137) went out in 18 and 21 darts.

Tony also had a 17 darter in the singles.

Kristian Thein (121, 3x140, 180) and Mark Kirby both won the opening two pairs, before Colin Pringle and Chris Simpson took the final pairs.

Ex Service Sports needed a win against lowly Liberal Lads to keep the pressure on the leaders - but it didn’t arrive.

The singles were levelled at 3-3 with Liberal’s Gordon McQuillan (2x100, 123, 140, and 122 finish) beating Mark Gray.

The Liberal then took the first pairs and Mark Williams (3x100, 2x140) and Eric Hammond (105 finish) made sure of the win as they beat Mark Gray (4x100, 140) and Gary Garton (5x100, 125 and 21 dart leg).

Terry Cox (3x100, 116, 123, 134, 140) and Pete Sharpe also won the last pairs to give the Liberal a fine 9-3 win.

A high-scoring game took place at the Wainfleet Social, as Rise of ASMs were at home to second placed Highwayman, leapfrogging them as they were a very convincing 10-2 winners.

Wayne Clarke (4x100, 140) and Wayne Burles (3x100, 120) were the only players to record a win for the Highwayman.

ASMs had Mark Forman (4x100, 128, 139, 2x140, 180, and 105 finish and singles legs of 15 and 13 darts) and Martin Bell and Rick Garner (16 dart doubles leg) doing well.

Ex Service 501s had a fantastic 9-3 win over bottom placed WMC Amigos with Chris Butler (3x100, 125) and Ken Wilson (4x100, 125, 140 and 17 and 18 dart legs) the stars of the show.

Division Two

Leaders Ex Service C played twice this week, beating Welcome Hillbillies 11-1 and going down 8-4 to the Vine.

Against the Hillbillies, and leading 5-1 after the singles with Anthony Hulley (134, 140) and Steve Wymer (2x138) doing well, they were in complete control and promptly took all the doubles to run out comfortable winners.

Their second game was a trip away to the Vine - where the home side raced into 4-2 singles lead.

The Ex Service then won the first pairs to level the game at 4-4, only to see the Vine take the last two to win the match 8-4.

The chasing pack needed to make no mistakes and two of them met as Cricket Club took on Welcome Anchors, where the home side held the advantage in the singles as they lead 4-2 with Steven Bourke (2x100, 116, 140) and Paul Butcher Lucas (3x100, 123) helping their cause.

But back came the Anchors, taking the next two to lead 6-4.

It was down to home side’s last pair of A. Ainsworth and Steve Bourke to win their game and rescue a point in a match they had in the palm of their hand.

Welcome Hillbillies, playing their second game of the week, were at home to Liberal Us and were helped by 180 and 103 checkout from M. Walker.

It was the Liberal that recorded a fine 10-2 win to put themselves back in the mix.

Seaview Raiders took on and beat Red Arrows 7-5, a result that gives the Raiders an outside chance of honours as they continue their resurgance.

The joining meeting for the Summer League will be held on Friday.

Only four men are needed to field a side in this unique format.

The meeting will take place at the WMC in the kids’ room from 7.15pm.

All teams to be represented and all fees on the night.

The fee is set at £30.
