Tennis club is back in National action

Matches in the Lincolnshire National Winter League 2020-21 have started up - with Boston Tennis Club competitors in the thick of the action.

Boston Men B’s duo of Will Cheer and Max Jones played a very strong David Lloyd B team.

They gained from the experience and put up some resistance making it 1-1 at the end of the doubles round, but lost the doubles and the match 2-4.

Boston Men C played Spalding in a home fixture and won 6-0.

The team on this occasion was Ryan Frankish and teammate Seth Briggs-Williams.

A friendly and well-contested under 14s match saw an all-Boston Tennis Club fixture with Ben Rudkin and Paul Young (Boston A) winning over Jamie Winter and Freddie Mountain (Boston C) to progress to the semi-final of the Lincolnshire Winter League U14s Team Tennis competition.

The 14 boys B team – Billy Smith and Finley Houghton - played a strong team from Lincoln Academy and lost out 0-6.

Two of the three Boston Tennis Club 12 and under girls’ teams narrowly missed out in 2-4 results.

Boston B 12 girls – Matilda Buck and Alice Servonat - missed out at David Lloyd Lincoln. The girls were level after the singles but lost the doubles.

The 12 girls C team – Olivia Winter and Florence Perowne - played at Grantham and were level after the singles.

A fine doubles match up slipped out of the girls’ grasp and they were narrowly beaten 11-9 in a tie-break third set.

The Boston Tennis Club 16 girls B team – Poppy Gibbons and Yasmin Everitt - had a 6-0 result in an away match at Grantham.

The 10 and under team played in tricky windy conditions against David Lloyd Lincolns.

Both girls played well; Alayna Buswell lost 2-4, 3-4 and Bonnie Haywood won 4-1, 4-3 before they lost the doubles.
