More than 1,000 artworks on display in fifth year of popular Oxcombe exhibition

More than 1,000 works will be on show when the fifth year of the hugely popular art and ceramics exhibition at the Oxcombe Farm centre, near Horncastle, takes place this weekend.

Almost 50 exhibitors, working in ceramic, printmaking, printing, textiles, mosiac and wood, have been selected and will showcase their work for sale while also chatting to visitors about their inspiration and creative approach.

After success in trialling a three-day event in 2025, the exhibition will run this year from Friday, September 18 to Sunday, September 20 (10 am to 3.30 pm). Admission is only £2 for adults and free for under-15s, with tickets valid for return visits over all three days.

There will also be an opportunity to have a go at throwing your own pot, to see some of Oxcombe’s regular ceramics attendees at work, or to simply wander the grounds at Oxcombe and enjoy the early autumn landscape.

Since last year’s event, the venue been investing in new creative spaces within converted farm buildings on site. Visitors will discover exhibitors in ten different venues, including new workshop spaces, a new visitor-centre and the Makers’ Gallery.

Oxcombe’s church will also be hosting the installation Re:Beaker, an artwork of 700 hand-made ceramic pots made by communities across east Lincolnshire and led by Oxcombe tutors, pit-fired on site at the farm.

The installation will be accompanied by interpretive artwork created alongside the core project by artists who were invited to handle original Bronze Age beaker pots at Lincolnshire Archive.

Visitors will be able to enjoy food and drink by local businesses Crepe Lucette (Friday), Holly’s Garden Kitchen and The Very Cool Coffee Bus (both on Saturday and Sunday), adding to the relaxed atmosphere of this annual event.

Since last year, Oxcombe has installed extra hard paving to augment its gravel walks, improving access to spaces, and an additional toilet that is suitable for wheelchair-users.

The Oxcombe team is delighted by the growth of the exhibition over the last five years. Clare Briers, art and ceramics co-ordinator said: “Oxcombe is busy all year round, with people attending our range of creative classes and experiences.

"But there is something special about transforming the whole site into an exhibition space and inviting people to explore.

"There will be something for everyone, and it will be a great opportunity for visitors to treat themselves to a beautiful painting or sculpture, or to find unique, hand-made gifts for family and friends.
