Here are some great party games you can enjoy with the family at Christmas

Christmas will be spent at home to an unprecedented degree in 2020 – and once the dinner is finished, the Queen’s Speech is over and the Quality Street has been raided, you may be looking for fun ways to generate a bit of festive cheer with your family.

Luckily there are lots of party games to try, and not just charades and board games either. Here are six of the best.

Oven Gloves Challenge

This one should be an amusing challenge if you have any presents left to open. The game awards a prize to the first person to unwrap a gift while wearing oven gloves. Find out more here.

‘Snowball’ Throw

Real snowballs aren’t actually involved in this game – instead it involves throwing marshmallows into participants’ mouths. Points are gained every time a marshmallow is caught. To make the game extra competitive, divide into two teams if you can and create a marker on the floor to maintain a uniform distance.

Paper Plate Christmas Scene

The rules of this game ask players to draw a festive scene on a plate that is positioned on top of their head. Points are awarded to those succeed.

Christmas Trivia

Get a quizmaster to ask the rest of your family questions about traditions and other seasonal topics, with points for the correct answers.

Cup Tower

Challenge each member of your family to stack plastic cups high enough to look like a Christmas tree. Proceed until the tower collapses.

Guess How Many

In this easy game, each player guesses how many Christmas sweets – or savouries like nuts – are in a jar. The closest guess to the real total wins a prize.
