Avid motorbike fan Mike Spells answered a call from BOTB presenter Christian Williams who surprised him with the news he had clinched the cash lump sum with a ticket costing just 85p.

Mike, from Lincoln, was at home when he took the call and told Christian it was very welcome news coming so soon after he had crashed his bike, resulting in costly repairs.

But the devoted dad also brought his daughter into the conversation during the video call telling Christian the win might also come in handy to help with her 20th birthday celebrations.

“Get out, honestly,” said Mike as he was told of his win. He then admitted he was lost for words while also joking that was quite unusual for him.

After confirming the amount of money Mike had won Christian asked what he would spend it on.

“I crashed my motorbike a couple of weeks ago so it will help with that,” he said while also reassuring the BOTB presenter he had escaped without serious injury.

“I bounce quite well for a 54-year-old,” he joked.

A delighted Mike said they had not accounted for the money so it was a really lovely surprise for the family and would be put to good use.

“It’s awesome, thank you,” he added .

Christian said he had really enjoyed chatting to Mike describing him as a positive and lovely guy who he hoped would really enjoy this surprise win.

“I was so glad to hear Mike had escaped the crash without any serious injuries and delighted that this win has come at a good time for them to help with any repair bills from that crash,” he added.

“It also looks like it will help the family celebrate a special birthday and might stretch to a holiday or break away. We’re very lucky in this job to get to chat to all kinds of people and have such good news to tell them.

“Sometimes there’s a call when you are especially pleased to reveal a surprise win because you hear why the money will make such a difference. For Mike it will help after the crash and allow him to share this stroke of good luck with his family.”

BOTB hands over the keys to a Dream Car each week as well as offering lifestyle prizes.

Founded in 1999, BOTB has given away prizes to over 816,000 people, including £166 million-worth of cars so far.

It is currently offering people the chance to win a stunning five-bedroom home in Norfolk worth £1 million in a competition costing just £1 to enter.
