Louth Choral Society illuminates advent with 'Lux Aeterna' concert
Spectacular evening of music with Louth Choral Society
This November, the historic St James’s Churchin Louth will be filled with a spectacular evening of choral music as the Louth Choral Society presents its highly anticipated Advent concert, Lux Aeterna: Out of Darkness Cometh Light.

Taking place at 7pm on Sunday, November 22, this uplifting performance marks the arrival of the Advent season through a powerful exploration of light, hope, and renewal.
Under the expert baton of conductor Alison Willis, the choir will be accompanied by the exceptional Khrisma 4, a Lincolnshire-based string quartet, featuring a special guest performance by acclaimed solo soprano Kimberly Raw.
The evening's main programme brings together two twentieth-century masterpieces: Francis Poulenc’s Gloria: A vibrant, deeply expressive, and joyful celebration; and Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass: A stunning, atmospheric modern work that takes listeners on a spiritual journey from darkness into luminous light.
The carefully curated repertoire also features a selection of supporting choral works, including Joseph Haydn’s dramatic Insanae et vanae curae; Edward Elgar’s deeply moving Lux Aeterna; John Rutter’s beautifully serene Pie Jesu; and Hubert Parry’s timeless anthems Never weather-beaten sail and My soul, there is a country.
Ticket prices are reserved £18 (accompanied under-18s £10), unreserved £12 (under-18s free), available to purchase now from Beaumont’s (11 Bridge Street, Louth, LN12 0UR), directly from choir members, or online via TicketSource at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/louthchoral.
