Pupils from Miss Bigland’s class filled the most boxes, and pictured above are Bronnwyn Fitzpatrick, Benjamin Hartley, Detorri Edwards, Emily Clayton, Bradley Bownstill and Jacob Wright with some of their haul.

“What an exceptional achievement to fill 122 boxes,” said international committee member and Rotarian Barry Chambers.

“We, and the children who will receive them, are delighted with such a kind donation.”

The boxes are in addition to the collection made through the Market Rasen Mail for the Rotary International Shoebox Appeal, which readers supported to the tune of around 150 boxes.

“This year’s collection across our newspaper titles exceeded last year’s total,” said reporter Chloe West.

“It is such a simple thing for us to do, but it means the world to the children, teenagers and elderly people across eastern Europe who receive the gifts.”
