Action over community plan for Crowle area

At its recent meeting, Crowle and Ealand Town Council considered how to tackle remaining work within the plan, set out at the end of 2012.

The document includes schemes varying from new infrastructure as necessary for housing schemes, to the development of Crowle Moors, and making the town’s empty buildings look more attractive.

Deputy Chair Ron Stewart said several ‘wants’ have not yet been achieved and should be considered. The town council should now take the initiative to drive the plan forward, he added.

Coun Melvyn Bailey said that Crowle Future is a fluid document, as parish plans are designed to be, and Coun Julie Reed said the town council should “pick it up and do the best we can with it.”

Funding was seen as the main issue and it was decided that North Lincolnshire Council should be approached with a view to finding out what further funding might be available to bring the plan up to date.

It was agreed that the document should be studied at the next meeting to list specific actions as a priority.

Crowle and Ealand Future evolved from 2010, following a public meeting in the town, and involved full consultation with residents and businesspeople over a year. A website was launched in March 2011, and a draft plan was produced in September 2012.

Initial plans included multi-use games areas and a skateboard park for Crowle and Ealand that have now come to fruition.

But some issues remain, including a scheme to redevelop the market place, that was questioned recently by town mayor Paul McCartan, after long delays in the process.
