Dispersal order authorised for large section of Boston ahead of Boston United home match against Scunthorpe United over 'disruption' concerns

A dispersal order has been authorised for a large section of Boston for tomorrow (Saturday, October 31) ahead of Boston United’s home game against Scunthorpe United, Lincolnshire Police has said.

The order will run from 10am until 10pm and extends to the Jakemans Community Stadium, in Wyberton.

It has been authorised, police say, ‘following concerns that some people may be planning to cause disruption’.

“The dispersal order gives officers the power to require individuals to leave a specified area if they are contributing, or are likely to contribute to harassment, alarm, distress or crime and disorder,” a spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said.

Failure to comply with a direction to leave is an arrestable offence, the force notes.

“In considering the wider community, there should be an expectation that members of the public should be able to enjoy their community, or their visit to Boston, without fear of being involved in or witnessing disruption or disorder,” it added.
