Do one thing this spring - get yourself online

Learn all about the information superhighway with free internet taster sessions which are coming to the Isle next month.

Following on from the success of the similar sessions that took place last month, North Lincolnshire Council has joined forces once again with North Lincolnshire Homes to provide further free events, but with a difference.

During Spring Online Week (March 31 to April 4), the organisations will be taking the big tour bus out to local communities to make it easier for people to access.

The bus will make the following visits to the Isle:

Wednesday April 2 - Windsor Lane in Crowle, 10.30am to 12.30pm; Day Close in Keadby, 2-4pm.

Thursday April 3 - Fieldside in Epworth, 10.30am to 12.30pm; Ashtree Close in Belton, 2-4pm.

The sessions will help develop knowledge and skills in: email, social media, online shopping, council and Ongo online services. These skills can save time and money, and help people keep in contact with friends and family.

There is no need to book, just turn up.

Chris Baker, Community Investment Co-ordinator for Ongo said: “Entering the digital world can be daunting for some, but there are so many benefits people can get from being online. From keeping in touch with people via email or social media to saving money on utility bills and shopping.

“We’re going to be travelling around the region on a bus fitted with everything you need to get online. Once on board you’ll receive free one-on- one tuition to get you started. Even if you use the internet but would like to know more, come along and see us.”
