Bank Holiday Traffic: Drivers warned over road restrictions still in force across Lincolnshire

Motorists travelling across Lincolnshire are being urged to plan ahead as a number of temporary traffic restrictions and roadworks remain in force.

Public notices published by Lincolnshire County Council show several ongoing schemes and temporary traffic measures affecting routes.

Drivers are being advised to allow extra time for journeys and check diversion routes before setting off.

In Sleaford, restrictions on Boston Road are continuing as part of carriageway resurfacing works. The temporary road closure order, affecting the route between Southgate and a point 1,500 metres east, is due to remain in place until June 27. Diversions and access arrangements are being signposted locally.

Meanwhile, Horncastle and Market Rasen are among several towns affected by wider traffic regulation orders linked to organised events, markets and highway management measures throughout 2026.

In Horncastle, restrictions potentially affecting roads including the Bull Ring, North Street, Louth Road, Market Place and West Street remain active when signage is displayed.

Market Rasen is also subject to temporary restrictions on roads including George Street, Chapel Street, Church Street, Linwood Road and Market Place, with some measures connected to events and traffic management around the racecourse area.

Motorists in and around Louth, Boston and Skegness are also being encouraged to monitor updates via the county council’s roadworks portal, which includes both council-run highway schemes and utility works taking place across the network.

Lincolnshire County Council says the restrictions are designed to allow essential maintenance, resurfacing works and public events to take place safely.

A council spokesperson said roadworks are coordinated to “ensure disruption to road users is kept to a minimum while providing a safe environment” for both motorists and workers.
