Garden waste service returning to Boston - cost is up, but so is the number of collections, with bins to be emptied in winter
Residents in Boston borough can now renew or subscribe online for garden waste collections for the upcoming 2026/27 season – the cost of the service is up, but so is the number of the collections, with bins set to be emptied in winter, too.
This year, the service from Boston Borough Council will cost £55 – up on last year’s fee of £52.50, which itself was a rise on the year before.
However, the number of collections is being increased by one to 21, which makes for an average of £2.60 per collection – slightly lower than last year.
In addition, bins will be emptied monthly during the winter months, rather than stopping altogether.

The cost of emptying any additional bins will be £40.
The final collections for the 2025/26 season will take place on Friday, March 27, after re-starting on February 16. The subscription period for 2026/27 will begin in the week commencing Monday, March 30.
Coun Callum Butler, portfolio holder for environmental services, said: "We are pleased to introduce a new 12-month garden waste collection across the borough of Boston for 2026/27.
“This change will provide residents with 21 collections a year, with a cost per collection of £2.60. Collections will be fortnightly from March to October, with November to February being monthly.
“Renewing your garden waste collection online is the quickest and easiest way to sign up and can be done at a time to suit you. Signing up over the phone is also an option.
“We look forward to continuing to provide you with a quality, affordable service.”
