Gardeners’ club - Members of the gardeners’ club who voluntarily planted 2,000 crocus bulbs on the verges by Dove Park had expressed their concern to the parish council as Western Power had started laying underground cables in preparation for installing a new sub-station.

There had been no warning this was about to happen, otherwise the planting could have been delayed.

The council agreed to contact Western Power if there was any damage to ask for compensation costs.

The planting was a continuation of the scheme started last year when 1,000 crocus bulbs were planted.

Daffodil bulbs have also been planted around the pictorial village name signs as a further contribution to spring colour in Wragby.

Social lunch - Roast pork and all the trimmings was on the menu for the first of the monthly lunches in 2016, cooked by volunteers and served to the Wragby branch of Disability Lincs Social Group.

It held its usual Tuesday morning meeting in the town hall before welcoming guests for the meal.

Thoughts turned to the late Sandra Riley, who always looked forward to joining her friends at the meetings.

At her funeral, which many members and volunteer helpers attended, donations in lieu of flowers were made to the Wragby branch of Disability Lincs.

Church visit - Brownies and their leaders visited All Saints’ Church to try their hand at hand bell ringing.

The Wragby Hand Bell Ringers played a couple of songs to get everyone in the mood, before inviting groups of girls up to have a go.

As the equipment was packed away, Bob Bailey, the bell ringers’ chairman, gave some facts about the bells, covering part of the badge syllabus that the girls are currently working towards.

Rainbows - For a project to be completed in the autumn, members of the 1st Wragby Rainbows are in need of 50 to 100-year-old Yale keys.

If you have one or two to add to their total, they will be gratefully received.

Call Andrea Ward on 01673 858302 and collection will be arranged.

Craft group - A friendly and informal card making group, the Circle of Paper Crafters, meets in the Methodist Chapel Room on the second and fourth Fridays of each month and is always looking forward to welcoming new members to join them.

Anyone who is interested and would like further information can contact Ann Lambert on 01673 857515.

The next meetings are planned for Friday, February 26, and Friday, March 11.

Each session starts at 2pm and the cost is £2.50.

New councillor - There was just one applicant for the vacancies on the parish council at the meeting held in the town hall.

It was unanimously resolved that Rosey Norton should be co-opted.

She joined her fellow councillors, taking her seat at the table after signing her declaration of acceptance of office.
