Wath crash to defeat at Aston

SOUTH YORKS PREMIER

Wath 97

Aston Hall 175 for 7

AT Moor road Wath welcomed Aston Hall, but failed to maintain the impetus from last week’s win over the league champions and crashed to a 78 run defeat.

Aston Hall batted first and Marshall Pooley scored 32.

Skipper Rob Ward came in with a total at 105 for 4 and batted to the end to register 52 not out and see his team at 175 for 7.

In reply Wath began reasonably to reach 45 for 2 but then collapsed to 64 for 7 and thanks to dogged determination from Joe Thompson (29) the score was lifted to 90 for 7, before a secondary collapse set in to see Wath all out for 97.

Ryan Tingle proved Aston’s best bowler with 3 for 12.
