More home frustration for Boston United as Woking hit back for a point

Boston United saw more home points slip away as they had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Woking in the National League tonight.

The Pilgrims had led since the sixth minute from Terrell Agyemang's strike and were rarely troubled in the first half.

But the Cards were much improved after the break and deserved their equaliser on 73 minutes through sub Josh Kelly.

It left Boston with just one win from their first five home league outings.

The home side showed two changes from the weekend home defeat by Wealdstone with Connor McBride and Nicholas Pozo in for Lennon Wheeldon and Gavan Holohan.

United cleared an early Turner corner before forcing one of their own from which they went ahead on six minutes.

Sachdev's dangerous ball in from the left had to be punched away from under his own bar by Jaaskelainen.

The ball flew to the edge of the box where McBride swung and missed, but Agyemang met it with a fierce low shot that took a slight deflection on its way into the net.

Pozo almost doubled that on 27 minutes after some neat dribbling from the left by McBride before setting him up for a dipping first time shot that Jaaskelainen had to tip over.

The corner was cleared to Agyemang, who this time smashed a finish over the top.

Six minutes later Bostock had a shot blocked for a home corner. Sachdev sent it over and Rooney headed straight to the keeper at the far post.

On 40 minutes Ogie planted a header wide from a Turner corner in a rare Woking half-chance.

Chadwick then caught a Cards corner in the one added minute.

Boston had comfortably defended Woking's corners plus a string of long throws by Ogie and were good value for their narrow interval advantage.

However, Woking came back out with the bit between their teeth and on 48 minutes Ward showed good pace down the left and set up Turner for a first save of the night for Chadwick.

The keeper was back in action within two minutes, spreading himself well to keep out a low poked finish from Dulson at his near post.

On 53 minutes Grimes launched a quick free kick and Aboh wrestled himself free, but Jaaskelainen got a vital touch as the front man tried to round him.

Chadwick comfortably held a far post header from Syla as the Cards resumed their pressure.

Bostock was booked for delaying a Woking free kick on 56 minutes.

Woking went close again on 62 minutes as Turner pulled a low ball back from the left byline and Marquis turned smartly but sent his finish wide of the right post.

Two minutes later Dulson got away from Gent and crossed. Ward met it with a close range diving header and Chadwick pulled off a superb reflex save.

A quick ball forward to Ward caught Boston napping and he set up Forster-Caskey for a first time shot over the bar.

John-Lewis saw a shot deflect for a corner as Boston tried to ask some questions of their own with the general momentum with the visitors.

So it was no surprise when Woking levelled matters on 73 minutes.

Putman curled over a tempting cross from the right and sub Kelly was completely unmarked to bury a low volley from eight yards with Chadwick helpless.

Odusina's trip on Wheeldon on 75 minutes saw the yellow card out again.

John-Lewis almost regained the lead for Boston on 79 minutes, meeting a Gent cross with a first time flick that zipped over the top right corner.

The Pilgrims then forced two corners as they began to get back on top of proceedings.

Gent sent the second to the far post where it passed agonisingly in front of Grimes, unable to turn it into the empty net from point blank range.

Pozo was booked for holding on 83 minutes and soon after Marquis was well off target with a header.

Cursons then got under the ball and headed over from another testing Gent cross as both sides scrapped for a winner.

With two minutes left Ward felt he'd won a penalty for a shove but the officials disagreed and play went on.

Boston broke well in added time, but Cursons' final ball to Gent was poor and hooked away for a corner, which proved the final chance as honours finished even.
