Underdogs Boston United should have no fear at Forest Green says veteran striker

Boston United may be underdogs heading to Forest Green Rovers on Saturday, but veteran striker Lenell John-Lewis believes the Pilgrims should go there with no fear.

Boston took four points off wealthy Rovers last season, winning 3-2 away after storming into a 3-0 interval lead and John-Lewis said: “As a club for some reason we always seem to be the underdog, but we go into every game wanting to win.

“I know a lot of the lads weren't here but I think we can take some joy from last year's performance down there, go there with no fear, and try to win the game.

“We need to find a way to win at the moment - and there is no better place to do that than at Forest Green.

“Form can change any time in this league and if we can get two wins back to back and then kick on from there that would be perfect.”

On Tuesday's 1-1 home draw with Woking, he said: “It was a hard-fought point in the end but, as a squad, we are frustrated to not come out with the win we wanted.

“But we will take the point on the back of Saturday's defeat.

“We are a little deflated as we go into every game wanting to win.

“But we must take the positives from the game. We created a lot of chances and I think we looked a bit more solid.

“The game ended up being a bit more back and forth.

“After half-time I think we rode the storm and then kicked back in and created a lot of chances.

“When we go ahead we need to find a way to get a second goal and, if we can't do that, we need to find a way as a team and as a collective to keep the ball out of our net.

“Clean sheets are massive for the gaffer – he says it all the time. He knows if we can do that we will get chances at the other end.

“We need to do that as a collective and just find a way to win a game.”

He continued: “I thought we started well tonight. We had the impetus in the early part of the game and 'T' (Terrell Agyemang) got his goal which was pleasing to see.

“We just needed to kick on and get another one.”

It was a second full 90 minutes in four days for the 37-year-old and he said: “At this stage of my career and my age I know it's not always possible to play every game.

“But while I am out there I will give it my all and I feel good right now.”
