Read on for a preview of and tips for the Market Rasen card, brought to you by Betano, who offer all the latest horse racing odds .
Our first race is an extended two-mile conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle (12.18). Bluenose Belle is a course and distance winner who may still be competitive at her current mark, while Sam England’s Wind Your Neck in is down to a tempting mark now under a three-pound claiming rider. He has promising course form and looks capable of winning here.
Next is a novices’ hurdle run over two and a quarter miles (12.53). We have two previous winners under Rules running here; bumper winner Constantinian and Hold The Serve, who won a good novices’ hurdle nicely at Wincanton. Given some of his penalty back by his claiming rider, this horse sets the standard on form and should prove to be the best, but Constantinian does look likely to improve for the step up in trip, so could go closer than expected.
Race three is a handicap hurdle run over two miles and seven furlongs (1.28). Heart Over Head, Gotthereintheend Born In The West won their latest starts, while Avada Kedavra seeks a hat-trick. He looks to have a chance of doing so, while Tzarmix and Princesse Milania can run to places too. Perhaps the one to beat, though, is Hudson. Down a pound since a good run last time out, this Mickey Bowen-trained five-year-old looks to appreciate the step up in trip.
A valuable veterans’ handicap chase is next, run over two and three quarter miles (2.05). Two For Gold is the oldest of the eight runners, aged 13, the topweight is Minella Drama and the bottomweight is Stratagem. Minella Drama tends to do better when nearer the bottom of the handicap, so is easy enough to look past here. Bill Baxter could be competitive, particularly given his preferred ground. Nicky Richards’ Doyen Du Bar steps up to this trip for the first time and, bred to appreciate it, could prove to be at a nice mark.
The Listed mares’ bumper is the fifth race, run over the extended two miles (2.40). This is a competitive race, with seven previous bumper winners in the mix. Though picking a winner here is no easy task, Malina Road looks to have a nice eachway chance, having beaten some capable horses on debut, but Alan King’s Galaxy Star could be a value option for the win, having been impressive last time at Newbury, only just beaten when making good progress from back in the field.
Second to last is a novices’ handicap chase over two miles and a furlong (3.10). Harriet Dickin’s Hawk Stone is down to an attractive mark now, and ran a good enough race last time out to give some confidence. Disco Annie looks good on her new mark, and has five pounds from her rider to boot, while El Rojo Grande should make the placings. He runs consistently, but finds it hard to win, so could be an each-way play.
Last of all is a three-mile handicap chase (3.45). Despite pulling up on his last two starts, Heard That could run a nice race in first-time cheekpieces for Olly Murphy, while course and distance winner Giovanni Change looks very competitive, staying on the same mark as when a good third of eight last time out on his seasonal reappearance.
