New leaders in Boston Indoor Bowls League

Defending champions Eastenders are struggling to maintain their early pace in the Boston Indoor Bowls League’s Orchard Health Group Division One.

After last week’s defeat to Holland Fen another two points drifted away against A40.

Doing the damage were Janet Vinter, Pauline Richardson and Norma Barnes, who beat Stuart Moore, Louise Catchpole and Paul Flatters (25-21).

Wayne Phoenix won 24-9 for the aggregate points.

Carlton Road went top by one point when they beat Red 5, skips Les Feary and Martin Tomlin with emphatic wins of 26-13 and 25-13.

Holland Fen’s Richard Vinter produced a win of 25-15 but this was surpassed by IBC’s Steve Shaw, Stan Lawrence and Pete Stringfellow (25-7) who claimed four points.

Third-place Invaders beat Breakaways with wins or Chantal Spencer, John Spencer and Rod West (37-13) and Liam Reeson, Sandra Tebbs and Scott Whyers (30-8).

Parthians lost to Jolly Farmers as John Clark, Ann Martin and Keith Nix’s 24-15 was bettered by Derek Green, Dick Allen and David Allen (26-7).

Punchbowlers’ Iris Reeson, Bunny Reeson and Dave Gill triumphed 24-21 but replying for Boston Park, Alan Batchelor, Betty Hill and Claire Britchford won 19-15 for the aggregate points.

In the T&B Containers Division Two, Royal Mail are delivering as they sit top of the division.

Against Cosmosm, skips Keith Sharp and Geoff Taylor triumphed 27-10 and 16-9.

Second-place Poachers let two points drift away to second-from-botttom Burtons as Gordon Goringe, Bill Daubney and Dave Bailey won 21-12.

Poachers’ Brian Simpson, Allen Bennett and Brian Sansam were successful 21-8 for four points.

Strollers saw the gap at the top widen when they were defeated by Nomads.

Kate Maddison, Mel Maddison and Ken Burr won 20-18 while Judith Richmond, Di Cuppleditch and Derek Smith won 12-10.

Patriarchs versus Central was closely contested, Patriarchs winning overall 38-35.

Cammacks Division Three leaders Pilgrims saw another two points slip away, but their 13-point lead will take some catching.

Against the Saxons they had and overall win of 43-23.
