Plans for three glamping pods given the green light despite flooding fears
Plans to install three glamping pods in a village have been given the green light despite flooding concerns.
Members of South Kesteven District Council’s (SKDC) planning committee approved plans for three eco-friendly glamping pods, a utility building, a car parking area and associated landscaping on land to the rear of eight Bourne Road, in Folkingham.

The land is currently said to be largely unused – and none of it is set aside for agriculture.
The pods will be to the western edge of the site and used to provide overnight accommodation having been given the seal of approval.
The utility building, bin store and car parking area would be close to the existing entrance to the site.
A new laurel hedge is proposed along the boundary with the neighbouring property, next to the visitor parking area.
At a meeting on Thursday, June 11, Coun Murray Turner (Liberal Democrats – Toller) had raised concerns about the risk of flooding in the area.
He said: “There is a flooding issue in the area already and Billingborough – which lies downstream of Folkingham – was flooded in January 2025 and a little bit the year before.
“So, I think all the waterways are quite sensitive and need to be protected.”
But the applicant Sarah Neale said the plans had been carefully designed with the appropriate drainage systems.
She added: “The intention is to create a quiet environment centred around relaxation, nature and time away from busy urban life.
“It is not intended to operate as a venue for parties, events or large group gatherings.
“The site has been carefully designed to remain visually contained within the landscape, with the pods not readily visible from the roads, the village or conservation area and further integrated through a detailed landscaping strategy incorporating native hedgerow screening, orchard planting and sustainable drainage features, reflecting the site’s historic character.”
