Last gasp Olomola strike denies Boston United all three points at Wealdstone

A last gasp equaliser by Fela Olomola denied Boston United all three points in a 1-1 National League draw at Wealdstone tonight.

Jacob Hazel had broken the deadlock from the penalty spot on 69 minutes, and it had looked enough to win at the FA Trophy finalists.

But the Stones struck in the final seconds of the four added minutes, made even more sickening as Olomola's finish took a deflection that beat Dan Cameron.

Both sides had two efforts apiece ruled out for offside in an even mid-table contest with both sides enjoying spells of dominance in both halves.

Injury ruled out Maguire, Hiwula and Richards from the weekend, joining the sidelined Mills, Oboh and Cropper.

Wealdstone made six changes from the side pipped 2-1 at title-chasing Rochdale on Saturday then lost Hutchinson who was hurt in the warm-up, replaced by Adu-Poku.

Boston thought they had taken a third minute lead as Cursons turned home a long Carson free kick from close range, but celebrations were cut short by a raised offside flag.

Boston had the better of the early exchanges and won a couple of corners, but the home side began to grow into it and ask questions without seriously threatening Cameron.

The Stones also had the ball in the net on 34 minutes when Adarkwa chased a through ball down the centre, but the flag was up for offside as he slotted inside the far post.

John-Lewis was well over on the turn two minutes later, then Cursons was wide with a header at the near post.

The first real save of the night came on 38 minutes as a half-cleared corner was drilled goalwards by Gallagher, Baptiste proving equal to it diving away to his right.

Nathaniel-George sliced an effort well over for the home side before, on 44 minutes, Agyemang strode into the box on the right and flashed a shot across Cameron that came back off the far post.

The final action of the half saw Carson booked for his foul on Adu-Poku, but the Pilgrims defended the free kick successfully and went in deservedly all square with just the one real scare.

Wealdstone had a second effort disallowed on 50 minutes as Adarkwa crashed home a rising finish, but Rooney had been fouled in the build-up.

A minute later Baptiste was down well to block a low Cursons shot.

The home side again began to force the issue and on 57 minutes Cook headed at goal at the far post from a corner, but Cameron was well placed to save.

Boston were finding it harder to get out of their half and had a double let-off on 61 minutes as Georgiou's low shot was blocked by Cameron who was then able to smother Nathaniel-George's close range attempt to follow up.

But, against the run of play at tat stage, the Pilgrims went ahead from the spot on 69 minutes.

John-Lewis turned Waller in the box, but his tackle had already gone in and brought him down.

Hazel, only only for four minutes as a sub, stepped up and managed to squeeze a low finish between the post and the keeper's dive.

A foul on 72 minutes saw Lavinier added to the book.

But the goal – and the introduction of Hazel – clearly lifted Boston who were now seeing much more of the ball in the home half.

Georgiou was well over as we approached the final 10 minutes, Adarkwa also firing well over on 82 minutes as the home side looked for a way back in the growing drizzle.

With two minutes left Barrington conceded a central free kick 30 yards out, but the wall did its job in denying Georgiou.

In the second of two added minutes Hazel raced onto a through ball to beat Baptiste with a low finish, but for the fourth time on the night an offside flag was already up.

However, right at the death, Boston were undone in direct fashion.

Baptiste launched the ball down the centre, Adarkwa helped it on and Olomola bundled home a deflected finish that looped high into the top right corner to stun United and snatch a share of the points.
