Pub restaurant donates £1,500 from fundraising effort for Nepal flood victims
A Sleaford pub restaurant is celebrating raising £1,500 for the relief effort for survivors of flash floods in Nepal.
More than a thousand people are known to have died and thousands more remain missing after sudden flash floods struck Nepal's Rasuwa district and parts of the Xizang/Tibet area on August 26.
The flooding, caused by a surge of water entering the Bhote Koshi River from Tibet, swept through villages in river valleys with little warning after a glacier collapsed and engulfing them in mud.
Upendra Poudel, who runs The Barracks Inn, on Westgate in Sleaford, said he felt duty-bound to act and launched a three-day special £20 set meal menu where proceeds would be donated to the disaster relief effort in his home country.

As well as the meal proceeds, staff and management donated over £900, plus customers made further donations in a bucket on the bar.
The donations have now all been collated and sent to the official Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund of the Government of Nepal.
